This group was founded in 2005 with the object of recording the history, ancient and modern of Beckermet, it’s surroundings and its community in the form of a book.
We would still like to recruit more members and people who are interested in either doing research into subjects in which they are interested or recoding their memories for posterity.
We aim to have talks on various subjects such as Records, Early History, Geology etc and meet approximately every 6 weeks.
There is also an intention to develop a secure archive which can be consulted by everyone by appointment. To this end, we would be grateful for the loan of any historical documents which would be carefully copied and returned, or if donated, kept in secure storage.
